In the morning I headed for Hughes Stadium at the Sacramento City College campus where Pat Gallagher ran in and won the W65 5000 metres which was scheduled at 11:11am when it was ridiculously hot and since they were running late it was actually even hotter by the time Ann ran. The trip out there was a useful dress rehearsal for me as my race was at the same venue the next day at 11:19. The remainder of the women's 5000 metre programme commenced at 6pm when it was still pretty warm. I was back at the stadium then to see some other British women in action - in particular Val Copson (from Rugby & Northampton AC) won her race, also in style.
